Major public transit hubs face severe operational, hygienic, and security challenges due to high passenger volumes overwhelming traditional, manual waste management systems. To resolve bottlenecks, pest risks, and odor issues caused by overflowing bins and manual collection, facilities are adopting modern reduction strategies - most notably the STREAM Automated Waste Collection System (AWCS). By continuously transporting waste through sealed, subterranean pneumatic pipe networks directly to central off-site facilities, STREAM AWCS eliminates visible bin overflow, reduces labor costs, and improves terminal security without disrupting passenger flow. Proven effective in premier hubs like Changi Airport Terminals 3 and 4 KLIA Terminal 2, this automated infrastructure transforms transit logistics into a seamless, hygienic, and future-ready operation.
